KUALA LUMPUR: In the spirit of racial harmony, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor yesterday presented donations and Hari Raya money to the orphans of Rumah Bakti Datuk Harun (RBDH) in Hulu Klang, near here.
In a ceremony held at the orphanage, the Chamber’s chairman Ng Wee Yiew handed RM1,000 as donation to Datuk Mohd Fahmi Ibrahim, the chairman of Rumah Bakti.
Ng also gave out 110 Hari Raya money packets of RM10 each to be distributed to the orphans in RBDH.
“We hope the Chamber’s initiative to give out such contributions will inspire our members and the community in general, to come forward and make similar contributions to the less fortunate,” said Ng.
The RBDH was founded by former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Harun Idris.
The home which began operations in 1976 is equipped with facilities and infrastructure that includes hostel blocks, rest rooms, tennis and badminton courts, prayer room, dining hall, computer laboratory, library and multimedia room. — Bernama
