SIBU: The series of programmes and activities organised by KTS group in conjunction with its 50th anniversary place strong emphasis on youth development.
Revealing this to thesundaypost on Friday, deputy managing director of KTS group Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming said this was because the future lies with the youths.
Among others, he believed young people can play an effective role in promoting and strengthening bilateral ties between countries.
“Our Dato Henry Lau (managing director of KTS group) feels that young people are our future. Therefore, for this time, at KTS group, we have organised a series of programmes and events where a big portion involves the young people.
“So, we want to organise events that will help young people build up their level of confidence,” he said.
Met after the farewell dinner hosted for the group from China comprising 76 youths and six officials from Fuzhou, Lau, who is the guest-of-honour, revealed that they would be sending a local delegation of about 100 youths to China in November.
Meanwhile, the Fuzhou youths are here for the China-Malaysia Youth Exchange Visit 2012 organised by KTS Group to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
Lau likened the local youths to ambassadors of Malaysia to China in the exchange programme in November.
“While there, they will familiarise themselves with the culture and way of life of the people there.”
He added that while such programme incurred quite a substantial amount of money, the merits far outweigh the cost.
“We see the event as very significant as the young people from China coming here and blending with the locals to experience their way of life. This will go a long way to promote international ties and friendship,” Lau said in giving reasons for rolling out the programme.
He also felt the programme would also strengthen the relations with China.
Lau described the event as highly successful, attributing it to the hard work and commitment of KTS staff.
He explained that KTS culture is to accomplish the best when carrying out a task.
“I thank all our staff for their high commitment and dedication in helping to organise this event and ensuring our guests are welcome here.
“We have all along been organising large scale events and have done so professionally. And this is because of the strong dedication and commitment of our staff,” he said.
He called for such an attitude to be preserved and continuously made part of KTS’ work culture.
