IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir yesterday took time off from his busy state administrative duties to take 110 children for a shopping trip under the Menteri Besar Adopted Children Programme here.
The children, comprising all races, including Orang Asli children, are those under the Adopted Children Programme set up by the Menteri Besar and his wife Datin Seri Saripah Zulkifli, three years ago.
The children under the programme were children of poor parents, especially rubber tapers, labourers and orphans were taken to a leading shopping mall to shop for the festive season.
Apart from shopping for clothings of their choice for an amount ranging from RM100 to RM120 each, they (children) also received a cash contribution of RM150 each from Zambry.
Children paced under the programme also received a monthly school allowance of RM50 each, money that the children said was used to buy books, other educational material and pocket money. — Bernama
