Man remanded two days to assist in illegal four-digit lottery sale probe

MIRI: A man has been remanded for two days to facilitate investigation into the alleged sale of illegal four-digit lottery numbers.

Magistrate Loverly Natasha Charles granted the remand order applied by investigating officer Sergeant Zairustam Abdullah of Miri Central Police Station.

Zairustam disclosed that a team of policemen from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led by Detective Sergeant Lai Sem Lee conducting ‘Ops Dadud’ inspected a premise in Tudan area at about 3pm on Aug 5.

During the inspection, they apprehended a man they believed was selling illegal lottery tickets in the area.

They seized from the suspect a note book, written numbers, illegal lottery, RM3 cash and a pouch as exhibits.

The 50-year-old suspect from Kampung Tudan will be produced for further mention in the magistrate’s court on Aug 8.
