Former GM of a cooperative pleads not guilty to bribery

JOHOR BAHARU: A former general manager of Koperasi Sinarjaya Bandar Tenggara Kulaijaya pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday to a charge of accepting bribe of RM2,900 two years ago.

Azman Anas, 40, is charged with accepting the bribe from one Oong Ah Lee as an inducement to approve an application form for a permit to remove rock material at Lot PTD 4153 Mukim Ulu Sungai Johor, Kota Tinggi.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Marrybrown Restaurant at Jalan Susur 3, Off Jalan Pejabat Kerajaan, Kulaijaya at 12.40pm on Oct 20, 2010.

Judge Mohamad Haidar Abdul Aziz allowed Azman bail of RM7,000 with one surety and set Sept 3 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Fazlin Hamdan had requested for bail at RM10,00, but lawyer Noorul Ameen Abdul Salam, representing Azman, said her client had not permanent job and had a wife, who is not working, and three children, aged between three and seven years old, to support. — Bernama
