KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians need to develop a culture of lifelong education to ensure the continuance of knowledge and job skill that they possess, said Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam.
Education and knowledge also help the workers to carry out their work in an oustanding manner, he said.
“The people (especially the working group) must make changes in their way of life by giving emphasis to efforts to improve their knowledge so that the education culture could be absorbed by the community as a whole.
“The education culture can help the nation to achieve the developed nation status when at least 50 per cent of its manpower have a high level of education and skill,” he said this to reporters after launching the website ‘WorkandStudy.my’ at the Hotel Seri Pacific, here yesterday.
Also present were Times Online Media Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Dr Arif Nun and Open University Malaysia vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali.
Commenting on the website WorkandStudy.my, Subramaniam said it was an online medium that could be used by the workers in the country to look for opportunities to continue their studies to a higher level and thus improve their knowledge. — Bernama
