Car salesman detained for probe into death of bank manager

SIBU: A car salesman has been detained by police on Thursday for investigation into the recent killing of bank manager Stephen Wong.

Believed to be a friend of the bank manager’s wife, the suspect was told to go to the police station, and when he did, was detained around 3pm.

The 26-year-old from Oya Road, placed on seven-day remand since yesterday, is to appear in court on Aug 16.

Police believe he had been close with Stephen’s wife since January.

He was among those called up for questioning shortly after the killing.

Stephen was found dead in the master bedroom of his house in Ulu Sungai Merah at about 1.30am on June 14.

Pathologist’s findings said he had been slashed on the neck and stabbed in the chest.

There were defensive cuts on both his arms.

Stephen, his wife and their 3-year-old son were said to be sleeping on the same bed.
