KUCHING: Local indie band Slap will produce the soundtrack for local film ‘This Few People’ in October.

Spokesperson Leslie Tnay told a press conference recently that band members were glad to be given the opportunity.

“This is the first time for us and for local bands to be given the honour to work on a local film and help our local talents to shine.

“I believe it is only right that we local musicians be involved locally with a local film production as it gives us the chance to prove that we are capable.”

Tnay said the band has been very busy lately and hoped to play more local gigs to keep fans in touch with their music.

Meanwhile, Star Crews Connection Agency Sdn Bhd director Annie Goh said they looked forward to working together with Slap on the film, which would involve mainly local actors who joined the production house’s acting classes last June.

“These local actors will be acting their roles for the first time and the shooting will be mainly in Kuching,” she said.

Goh said the film, which would take around three weeks to complete, will  be released on DVD.

“This will also be the first time we produce a film in DVD format and we hope that it gets a good response especially when the actors are from our own pool of local budding talents.”

Meanwhile, Goh said Star Crews would also make another film featuring Singaporean actor Henry Thia.

“This time he will play a more serious role that’s different from his usual comic roles.” Goh said shooting on the film ‘Papa I Love You’ is scheduled to begin in November and would involve Singaporean investors.
