KUCHING: Two men were fined RM500 in default one month jail each for stealing metal drain covers.
Liew Yang Kwong and Tsai Mui Sin from Jalan Simpang at Matang pleaded guilty before Magistrate Maris Agan who convicted them under Section 37(1) of the State Minor Offences Ordinance 1958.
They committed the theft at Mile 4, Jalan Penrissen here at 10.25am on Aug 12.
Tsai was also fined RM200 in default two months’ jail for failing to produce a MyKad when police came to arrest him behind a building at Demak Laut about 8pm on Aug 12.
The offence comes under Section 25 (1)(0) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 which provides for a maximum three years’ jail or a fine not exceeding RM20,000.
They paid the fine.
