Cosmopoint offers multimedia, graphic design courses

KUCHING: The design, creative and multimedia applications industry has taken the world by storm by creating a demand for, among others, animators, multimedia designers, graphic designers and multimedia developers.

To cater to this growing demand, Cosmopoint College of Technology (CCT) Kuching offers the Diploma in Multimedia Application and Diploma in Computer Graphic Design programmes which provide students with a platform to launch a career in this industry.

“The Diploma in Multimedia Application is designed to equip students with skills in developing interactive multimedia products and to reinforce a creative mindset in managing multimedia projects,” CCT Kuching head of academics and student affairs Leo Jan told reporters at its campus here yesterday.

He explained that the diploma course provides the conceptual knowledge in designing a highly interactive, eye-catching and creative multimedia application while equipping students with the technical skills in all the latest popular graphic design and multimedia software.

“For the Diploma in Computer Graphic Design programme, students will be provided with the knowledge of fundamental graphic design concepts and understanding on how to produce effective visual communications.

“This course aims to enable students to develop their creativity and problem solving skills as well as develop skills in various graphic design software such as the range of Macromedia and Adobe Software Suites.”

Leo, who was on hand to showcase the college’s final year multimedia and computer graphic design student projects exhibition, noted that the duration for the diploma courses was eight semesters or 2.5 years for full time students.

“We also offer part-time classes including classes conducted in the evening for working adults who are looking to gain higher qualification for career advancement in their choice of fields.”

Other diploma programmes offered by CCT Kuching include e-secretarialship, accounting, e-business, information technology, and business management.

“All programmes conducted, except for Diploma in Business Management, are fully accredited and has attained the quality standards and criteria set by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and recognised by Ministry of Higher Education and Public Service Department,” Leo said, adding that the business management diploma is currently in the process of getting full accreditation status.

The programmes are now opened for enrolment and those who enrol for the Sept 2012 intake would be entitled to a rebate of RM500 from the course fees.
