BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The National Committee for Brunei Darussalam’s Chairmanship of Asean in 2013, yesterday presented Haji Esa bin Kula with the Asean Summit Logo Award, Borneo Bulletin reported.
Haji Esa took part in the competition which was held from July 11 until August 4.
A public relations officer at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Haji Esa told the Sunday Bulletin that he was honoured and proud that his logo had been chosen for the upcoming Asean Summit in 2013. It was the second time that he had won a prize with his creative logo design, whereby his first creation was picked as the National Day logo.
“Not only is this a reward for me, but for my country as well, as this logo will be used to represent all the 10 countries in the Asean Summit in 2013,” he commented. When asked how he came up with the design, he said, “I actually made a little research on the previous Asean summit logos, in order to get the gist of how it looked, and the idea to design one of my own came up spontaneously.
The one thing that I am very proud of in the logo is the use of colours of the 10 Asean flags to reflect our unity and solidarity with each respective country.”
Presenting the award of B$3.000 and a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the National Committee were the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in their capacity as the Secretaries to the National Committee for Brunei Darussalam’s Chairmanship of Asean in 2013.
