TAWAU: Democratic Action Party (DAP) adviser Lim Kit Siang said Sabahans possess the chance to determine the next Prime Minister in the forthcoming 13th general elections.

Lim who was in town to attend Pakatan Rakyat’s Hari Raya open house for Tawau and Kalabakan parliamentary constituencies at a hotel here yesterday said Sabahans would have a golden opportunity which they never had before.

“The 13th general elections will empower you to determine the seventh prime minister of the country. You now have that chance which you never had,” he said to 1,500 people who attended the open house.

“You need to wield that power to change and we are ready. But there are those who are not ready. And there are those who are not ready, afraid and scared of losing power and to lose the support of many,” he said.

He revealed that he had visited and heard of dissatisfaction expressed by the people in the interior, Kota Marudu, Kudat, Matunggong and Ranau, along with a long list of promises unfulfilled, citing the construction of the Tawau dam which was promised 30 years ago but still remains unfulfilled to date as an example.

Present at the open house were DAP Sabah chairman and Sri Tanjung assemblyman Jimmy Wong, Tawau member of parliament Datuk Chua Soon Bui, PAS Sabah commissioner Mohd Aminuddin Aling and Tawau Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) divisional chairman Datuk Kong Hong Ming.
