GEORGE TOWN: A security guard was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with the murder of a 60-year-old woman at the Rifle Range Flats in Padang Tembak last month.
Ooi Kean Leong, 35, pleaded not guilty to killing Tan Kim Chuan in front of Block J, at a motorcycle park in Padang Tembak, at 6.02am on July 10.
Magistrate B Sripracha Nanthini fixed Oct 2 for mention.
Tan’s death had attracted public sympathy as none came to her aid when she fell and struck her head on the floor after a motorcyclist snatched her bag. It was reported that closed-circuit television footage showed her lying on the road for several minutes as people walked by. — Bernama
