KOTA KINABALU: The second Government Transformation Programme 2.0’s (GTP 2.0) new initiatives to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people are timely and appropriate and should be supported by all, said Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

Its vice president, Cyril Yansalang, said the new initiatives would likely address the specific needs of the people of Sabah including rural development, housing, education and healthcare programmes.

“PBRS fully supports any government programmes that are good for the people and the state.

“Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman had even acknowledged that the first GTP had made a big impact on the lives of many Sabahans.

“This augurs well for Sabah, and at the same time, proves that the government is really committed in championing the cause of the people, particularly in Sabah,” he told Bernama here yesterday.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala was recently quoted as saying here that he was upbeat on the prospects of the second version of the GTP after the success of the GTP 1 which was introduced about three years ago.

“About 1,700km of rural roads have been built and the recipients of the most of these rural roads are in Sabah and Sarawak,” Idris was quoted as saying.

In this respect, Cyril hoped that under the GTP 2.0, the government’s mission to increase road accessibility to 95 per cent of the areas in Sabah and Sarawak by 2015 would eventually become a reality.

On education, one of the focus areas of the GTP in Sabah, he urged the federal government to fast-track the implemention of the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) Community College in the state.

On June 17, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak performed the ground-breaking for the KDM College which aims to empower participation of the KDM community in the national education arena.
