Plane reported missing in East Kalimantan

BONTANG, E. KALIMANTAN: A Cessna aircraft from Samarinda on its way to Bontang in East Kalimantan was reported missing this evening.

A Temindung Airport spokesperson said the aircraft chartered by a private company to carry out mapping work in Bontang carried four passengers, including an Australian national.

The plane, which departed from the Temindung Airport in Samarinda at 7.51am and was last in contact with the Bontang Airport at 8.04am, was said to have disappeared at 2pm after it failed to arrive at its destination.

A search and rescue operation has begun to locate the aircraft which is believed to have gone missing around Bontang town. — Bernama
