TUARAN: The state government is committed to increase the number of affordable homes for low income earners in the state, according to Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor.

Speaking at the Hari Raya open house organised by the Tuaran Umno division held at Dewan Seri Sulaman yesterday, Hajiji disclosed that the state government has requested for more funding from the federal government for the construction of affordable houses and that the effort would continue.

“We have been implementing the programme under the PPR (People’s Housing Programme) and many low income earners have benefited from it.

“This programme will be a priority. Some projects have been completed with some still under construction while some are delayed. But we will keep pushing to ensure our people will have affordable homes for their families,” he said.

Hajiji added the allocation for the next PPR programme would be announced at the next budget session.

Some 15,000 visitors attended the open house yesterday, including Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Juhar Mahiruddin and his consort Toh Puan Hajah Norlidah Datuk R M Jasni, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and his wife as well as cabinet ministers and their spouses.
