SIBU: A middle-aged man was yesterday sentenced to six months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for outraging the modesty of a five-year-old girl seven years ago.
Lau Kiong Chai admitted having forcefully touched and caressed the girl’s private part at about 11am on Nov 1, 2005.
Magistrate Atiqah Abdul Karim ordered that the jail term take effect from yesterday.
The offence is listed under Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 10 years.
