KOTA KINABALU: Two women were stabbed and hacked to death while two men were fighting for their life in the hospital after a family dispute at Kampung Cenderakasi, behind Puspakom, in Kolombong here last night.
The victims, identified as Jalijah Jalin in her 30s, and Vivian, in her 40s, died at the scene when they were attacked by a relative around 7pm.
Vivian’s 52-year-old husband also suffered injuries when he put up a fight with the suspect, in his 30s.
Both men were being treated at the intensive care unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
It is said that both victims and the injured men are staying in the same house which is occupied by more than five families.
One of the victims’ body was found in a pool of blood outside her house at Kampung Cenderakasi.
It is believed that the suspect had an argument with Vivian and attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in her abdomen and neck.
Upon escaping from the house, the suspect also attacked Jalijah, who was returning home from work.
Her body was found in a pool of blood outside the double-storey wooden house.
Neighbours who saw the incident, immediately informed Vivian’s husband, who then chased and attacked the suspect.
Both men were found lying on the road with serious body injuries, about 100 meters from their house.
City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun, who was at the scene, said initial police investigation believed the attack was due to family dispute.
He said one of the victims was found dead inside a bedroom while the second victim was found outside the house.
“Initial police investigation believed the suspect attacked both women before he fled the house.
“Police believed one of the victims’ husband chased and attacked the suspect with a sharp object.
“Both men however suffered serious injuries due to the fight, and are currently being treated in hospital,” he said yesterday.
Jauteh said police were still investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
