Court sets Oct 10 to hear drug case of Anwar’s nephew

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday set Oct 10 to hear a drug abuse case involving Aidi Rafizul Idrus, a personal aide of a Penang state executive council member.

Magistrate Arif Mohamad Shariff fixed the date after the prosecution and the defence agreed to the list of six witnesses to be called to testify during the hearing.

Aidi Rafizul, who is Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s nephew, was charged with consuming the drug at a house in Jalan Paya, Berapit here at 10.30am on Nov 29 last year.

Aidi Rafizul, 37, who has three children, is a personal aide to Penang Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Rural Development and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Law Choo Kiang.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nor Sakinah Ibrahim prosecuted, while Aidi Rafizul was represented by lawyer VS Kumar. — Bernama
