S’wak Cup as talent scouting platform

MIRI:  A committee has been set up by Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) to scout for talented football players during the Sarawak Cup 2012 held here on October 1-7.

The committee would also monitor the player’s skill and gauge their potential when they play at the Sarawak Cup matches.

“The young, talented footballers that have the potential will be groomed to play at higher level competitions including President Cup and Youth Cup,” vice-president of FAS Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said yesterday.

He revealed that the Sarawak Cup 2012 is not only an avenue for football players to showcase their competitiveness in vying for team victory, but also an opportunity for players to shine and showcase their talent.

“At the same time, Sarawak Cup competition is also a platform for our young footballers to be exposed to competitive matches,” he added.

A total of 16 teams will compete in the Sarawak Cup 2012 which will be held at Miri Stadium.

The participating teams are Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, Limbang, Malaysia Armed Force (MAF), PDRM, Young Crocs A, Young Crocs B and Seahorse.
