Three crew killed in Taiwan plane crash

TAIPEI: A rescue team in Taiwan yesterday recovered the bodies of three crew members from a light aircraft after it crashed on a mountainside, officials said.

The Dapeng Airlines BN-2 aircraft lost contact with flight controllers on Thursday, two hours after taking off from Taipei on an aerial survey flight, the Civil Aeronautics Administration said.

The plane was found close to the summit of a 2,800-metre mountain Saturday, but rescue efforts had been hampered by bad weather, the National Rescue Command Centre said.

Rescuers pulled the bodies of the pilot and co-pilot from the cockpit and a third crew member from the fuselage, which was damaged as the plane lost power and ploughed into bushes, it said.

The Aviation Safety Council is investing the cause of the accident. — AFP
