Borneo Eco Trek Run on Sept 8

Posted on September 6, 2012, Thursday

SIBU: At least 300 people have confirmed participating in the annual Saberkas Unit Borneo Eco Trek Run that will be held at Sibu YMCA Resort, Mile 24 Oya Road on Sept 8.

Organising chairman Raymond Tiong Yong Ching said entries on the spot will also be accepted.

Saberkas deputy chairman Jason Tai will flag off the run at 2pm.

Tiong said the noteworthy entrants included Grace Boon, a English language teacher from Oakland, New
Zealand.

Grace has been working here as an English Language teacher in five primary schools since January 2012.

Her contract with the state government expires in September 2013.

Encouraging more people to take part, Tiong said every runner would be given a T-shirt for free.

The run is into its third year.

Each of the previous two runs saw some 500 participants, and Tiong is optimistic of getting the crowd of similar size at the coming run.

The run is divided into 5.5km long run, 3.5km medium run and 2km short run.

The event will be followed by a sumptuous dinner at the YMCA Resort.

A lucky draw session will also be slotted into the programme.
