Underprivileged children feted at Raya open house

KOTA KINABALU: Some 20 children from the Kota Kinabalu Children’s Home were treated during the Federal State Secretary and Federal Civil Service Hari Raya open house here yesterday.

The children also had the opportunity to meet up, close and personal with Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin when he presented the green packets to them at the event.

Also present were Juhar’s wife Toh Puan Norlidah Datuk R M Jasni, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and wife Datin Seri Faridah Tussin, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan and State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman.

Thousands of civil servants attended the event, which was held at the multi-purpose hall of the Sabah Federal Government Administration Complex.

A total of 53 departments and statutory bodies put up their stalls, all well decorated, serving the best food to the guests.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah won the Best Decorated Stall Contest with 95 per cent, followed by Inland Revenue Board (92 per cent), Intan Sabah (90 per cent), Syariah Courts Department (89 per cent), Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (88 per cent) and Sabah Prisons Department (87 per cent).
