KUALA LUMPUR: A Rantau Panjang PKR former branch head has filed a RM10 million lawsuit against an insurance company for wrongful suspension.

Mohammad Agos Mohd Noor, 53, named Etiqa Takaful Berhad as the defendant in the legal action filed on Aug 10.

High Court Judge Datin Yeoh Wee Siam yesterday fixed Oct 16 for case management.

The plaintiff in his statement of claim, said he was employed by Etiqa Takaful on July 1, 2003.

He was suspended as an agent and group agency manager after being charged with corruption under Section 28(1)(c) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

He claimed the company had maintained his suspension despite his acquittal and discharge by the Sessions Court on Nov 2, 2011.

Mohammad Agos who was represented by counsel Amir Khusyairi Mohammad Tasni, claimed the suspension was wrongful, unjustified and unlawful and is seeking general damages with five per cent interest, exemplary damages and other relief deemed fit by the court. — Bernama
