BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A ‘Slam Poetry’ workshop for students of the English Language and English Literature course continued at Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan (MSPSBS), Borneo Bulletin reported.
Richard ‘Dreadlock Alien’ Grant was at hand to teach the participants about slam poetry – a form of poetry, which is upbeat and exciting while at the same time, creative and stimulating.
Students from Year Seven to Pre-University were seen writing their names on a sheet of paper which Richard Grant would use to create rhymes, while also teaching them the fundamental of poetry-writing.
The aim of the workshop is to draw out the creative power of the students, while building their confidence to speak before a crowd. Furthermore, it is also hoped to promote teamwork and creative writing among its participants.
The highlight of the workshop will be on September 8, when Richard Grant will be giving a performance and the best work of the participants at MSPSBS Auditorium will be showcased.
Members of the public are welcome to watch. One can obtain a free ticket from the MSPSBS library or from MSPSBS students.
