Retired armed forces general among two recipients of Datuk Amar award *new!

KUCHING: Chairman to the Investment Panel, Armed Forces Provident Fund (LTAT) Jen (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Mohd Seth is one of the two recipients who head the list of 854 recipients of Sarawak state awards in conjunction with Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng’s 91st birthday Saturday.

The other recipient conferred the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) award, which carries the title “Datuk Amar,” is Ta Ann Holdings Berhad executive chairman Datuk Abdul Hamed Sepawi.

Lingui Development Berhad managing director Yaw Chee Ming and Arkitek KDI Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk John Lau Kah Sieng are the two recipients of the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title “Datuk Seri”.

The sole recipient of the PNBS (Honorary) is Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Awang Mohd Nawai Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Awang Mohd Taha, who is the private secretary to the Sultan of Brunei.

Information, Communications and Culture Deputy Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum is the sole recipient of the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) award, which carries the title “Datuk”.

Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak general manager Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Naili and Sarawak Forestry director Ali Yusop are among four recipients of the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title “Datu”.

The other two are permanent secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Local Government and Community Development Dr Penguang Manggil and Sarawak Health Department director Dr Zulkifli Jantan.

Six people are bestowed the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award, which carries the title “Dato”. They are Chief Minister Office’s press secretary and former state Information director Jameson Ahip Nawie, Kuching City South Mayor James Chan Khay Syn and head of the Roman Catholic Church in Sarawak, Archbishop John Ha Tiong Hock.

The others are Ustaz Jogi Suhaili of the Sarawak Chief Imam’s Office, Samalaju Properties chief executive officer Isaac Lugun and Gedung Megah Sdn Bhd director Datuk Hajijah Uteh.

Three recipients of the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) award are Malaysian High Commissioner to South Africa Kennedy Jawan, Malaysian ambassador to Iran Mohamad Sadik Kethergany and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) vice-chancellor Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman.

Six people conferred the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) are Olympic bronze medallist Pandelela Rinong Pamg, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang, Sarawak Teachers Union president William Ghani Bina, Sarawak Nanyang Wushu Federation chairman Dr Song Swee Hee, Pansar Company Sdn Bhd proprietor Jason Tai Hee and traditional dance expert Nurdjajadi Djasan.

Six others are recipients of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) followed by Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) (20), Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK) (49), Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) (56), Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) (220), Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) (49), Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) (160) and Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS) 269. –Bernama
