KUALA LUMPUR: Two people, wanted by the police for allegedly carrying the ‘Sang Saka Malaya’ flag during the Janji Demokrasi gathering last week, surrendered to the police here Friday.

Kuala Lumpur CID (Legal) deputy chief ACP Aziz Zakaria said the suspects, both aged 24, were picked up at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here at 2.30pm.

He said they would be investigated under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948.

“Once the required statements are recorded to facilitate investigations, they might be freed later tonight on police bail, like the four individuals who surrendered earlier,” he told reporters here.

Aziz said the two individuals turned up with their lawyers to help in the investigations.

He said the police were in the midst of tracking down a woman and five other individuals who were alleged to have trampled on the pictures of national leaders on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations. –Bernama
