TUARAN: A 54-year-old man was killed after the four-wheel-drive vehicle he was traveling in collided with a trailer at Km 30.6 Tamparuli/Ranau road on Tuesday.
Daunis Dauliting from Kampung Nabalu, Tamparuli, succumbed to serious head and body injuries after his vehicle rammed into the side of the trailer around 8.43pm.
It is believed that Daunis had lost control of his vehicle which skidded off the road and drove up an island before it rammed into the trailer.
The victim was heading to Ranau from Tamparuli while the trailer was coming from the opposite direction.
The 35-year-old trailer driver escaped with minor injury.
District police chief DSP Zaharudin Rasip said the victim’s body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for post-mortem.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Zaharudin urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
