Three teens caught in police raid

LIMBANG: Police caught three teenagers including a student for abuse and possession of Syabu at a lodging house at Jalan Buangsiol here, which has been their den in the past month.

The two girls aged 15 and 19 and a 16-year-old boy were nabbed at a lodging house here following a raid by Limbang District Narcotics Department on Tuesday evening.

Limbang police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai confirmed the arrests and said the three teenage suspects had been remanded in Limbang to facilitate investigation.

“They all tested positive for drug abuse after their arrest,” he said.

The suspects, who were stoned and laying down on the floor, were stunned to see the raiding team led by ASP Anuar Md Ghazali appear at their den. A search revealed what looked like packets of syabu on their bodies.

According Supt Bukhori, preliminary investigation indicated that the three had been using the lodging house for over a month for illicit activities together with other accomplices.

The raid was conducted after a tip-off from the public and intelligence gathered by Narcotics Police.

Two packets of syabu weighing 0.56g and 0.06g were recovered from the suspect after a body search.

They were subsequently detained under Section 12(2) and Section 15(A) of the of Dangerous Drug Act (1952) for possession and drug abuse offences respectively.

Meanwhile, Limbang OCPD commended the public for their cooperation and looked forward to getting more tip-offs to help fight the drug menace.

He said Limbang police would continue to monitor drug activities in the district.
