KOTA KINABALU: A young man from Sarawak was electrocuted while working at the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) in Kimanis, Papar on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Daniel Dorriuse, 19, from Kampung Punang Verayong, was said to be carrying lighting installation when the incident occurred around 5.15am.

Daniel was said to be with a couple of co-workers carrying out the installation when he accidentally touched a live wire.

After the victim collapsed on the ground, the other workers immediately informed the SOGT management.

Daniel was taken in an ambulance to Papar Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

“There was no foul play involved,” he said.

George said SOGT has notified the victim’s family and the company would arrange for the body to be flown back to Sarawak.

Meanwhile, SOGT said in a statement yesterday that the victim was immediately taken to Papar Hospital, and the local Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and the police were immediately notified.
