SJK(C) Tung Hua to have new block

Posted on September 16, 2012, Sunday

READY, GO: Lau (third from right) flags off the jogathon.

SIBU: SJK(C) Tung Hua will soon have a new building block to relieve its current congestion woes.

Chairman of the school board of directors, Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming said construction work for the school building block was expected to start in December.

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the school building block should be completed within a span of two years,” he said at the launch of the three-in-one celebration held at the school premises yesterday morning.

The three-in-one celebration included the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) jogathon, food sales and mini-concert.

When completed, the new building block will accommodate the teachers and staff office, library, AVA rooms, exhibition space and sporting facilities.

Lau, however, said they faced land constraint as the existing size was barely enough to house the building.

‘Nevertheless, we will try our best to utilise the existing land to the fullest,” he added.

For the construction of the school building block, they still lack substantial funds.

“Hopefully, members of the public, especially the ex-students, will chip in and lend a helping hand so we will be able to complete the building according to the schedule.”

On the jogathon, Lau said it was solely aimed at raising funds for the school to utilise in times of need.

“I believe it also serves to create awareness on the importance of doing exercise to keep us healthy, both mentally and physically.”

Lau said it would also help teachers, students and PTA members and board of management to foster rapport.

He commended the school’s PTA and Old Students’ Association for their relentless efforts to continue with the school’s development plan.

“On behalf of the school’s board of management, I wish to extend our sincere appreciation to it’s PTA and the Old Students’ Association for their committed efforts to help the school in one way or another.”
