Sabah on equal footing with other states

PAITAN, Sabah: Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee said that Sabah has attained equal footing with other states in the federation.

This is reflected by the important positions occupied by Sabahan leaders and officials in the federal government.

Kiandee said that after 49 years of the formation of the Malaysian nation, Sabah’s good stead in the federation needs to be maintained for the state to have its fair share of continuous development.

“Sabah must continue to receive special attention from the federal government to fulfill the urgent needs of the state and its people,” Kiandee said at the Beluran district-level Merdekaraya programme in Kampung Tanjung Nipis yesterday.

The Beluran member of parliament went on to describe the rate of development implemented in all the states as balanced and equitable.

He cautioned the people not to fall prey to the anti-government ploy hyped up by the opposition for it would eventually exclude the state and its people from the mainstream of development.

“We all should have learnt by now that to establish and maintain a cordial relationship with the federal government has become inevitable for the sake of the development of the state,” said Kiandee.

Sugut assemblyman Datuk Surady Kayong officiated at the event.
