LIMBANG: Limbang is eyeing a semi-final spot in the upcoming Sarawak Cup football championship and the 25 shortlisted players for the division are raring for action.

According to team manager, Alidin@ Brahim Tawar, Limbang is targeting to make it to the last four in the competition as it has the potent blend of experience and youthful talents in the squad.

The Limbang Football league which started four years ago, has been the platform for talent scouting of the Limbang team.

Alidin said most the players are known in the local football scene, and they had the potential to shine at the Sarawak Cup held in October this year in Miri.

“Most of the players are under 30 of age, and the experience of senior players strengthened each position in the field, “ he said.

The team is currently undergoing intensive training at the Limbang Hospital field, and the emphasis on fitness was unmistakable as Limbang look forward a good run in Sarawak Cup this year.

Alidin is optimistic that Limbang is stronger overall this year, including in the strikeforce, midfield and defence compared to last year.

“All those players shortlisted could showcase their abilities and talent during the selection, and we look forward to a more compact team this year,” he added.

The team manager has made focus and discipline a top priority, particularly in following the guidance and instructions from the coach.
