KUCHING: Logi Computer Peripherals (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Logitech Malaysia) has introduced the Logitech TV Cam HD, a revolutionary product with built-in Skype software for the home environment.

At a media conference to introduce its latest wireless campaign ‘Logitech + WIRELESS = CLUTTERLESS’, the company had unveiled several wireless products including mice, keyboards and headsets, as presented by Logitech country business manager for Malaysia and Brunei, KP Sim.

Essentially, the product is a full High Definition (Full HD) video camera device with Skype capabilities that is connected to a HD TV via High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable and to an Internet connection, either by local area network (LAN) cable or WiFi.

“Other than voice, real life video will give a better emotional appeal; to see the face of your family and loved ones. The Logitech TV Cam HD enables a more satisfying experience for the whole family via better visuals available with bigger screens in the market today,” he said while demonstrating the product.

The device was said to be compatible with any HD TV with HDMI connectivity. All functions were enabled by a remote control with essential buttons and an on-screen menu for simplicity.

The TV could be set in standby mode and be enabled via the remote control, either when making or receiving a Skype call. Sim’s onsite demonstration on a one megabit per second (mbps) Internet connection proved to be satisfactory. It would provide Full HD video on higher bandwidth Internet connections, he noted.

The company also presented the Logitech Speaker System Z553, a compact 40-watt system that was versatile in connectivity and featured Logitech FDD technology for fuller, richer sound.

The Logitech Touch Mouse M600 with a USB receiver featured Logitech’s proprietary ‘unifying’ technology which enabled connectivity of up to six compatible wireless devices (such as keyboards and web cams) via one USB port.

Other products included the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 powered by solar cells and could operate in total darkness for up to three months, the rechargeable Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K800 as well as Logitech Wireless Headset H800 and H600.

Also present at the product presentation were Logitech marketing specialist Ling Tok and East Malaysia channel manager Davey Ho.
