KUCHING: SUPP Women Section is all geared up for the upcoming general election.

In a press statement issued after its central committee meeting at SUPP headquarters here yesterday, the SUPP Women Section stated that it was fully prepared internally and externally.

Among the resolutions passed during the SUPP Women Section central committee meeting was the re-examination and amendment of the section’s constitution to be tabled during the upcoming Central Working Committee meeting.

Besides that, the section had also expressed regret that useful information related to BN government’s welfare policies had failed to reach the needy people, especially the Chinese community.

“These groups of needy people normally chose to give up their rights to welfare due to language barrier in trying to communicate with the officials.

“SUPP Women Section shall give special emphasis on carrying out social welfare tasks in the near future, playing its role to bridge the gap between people and government,” SUPP Women Section said.

At the same time, the section also hopes to coordinate and work with Social Welfare Department’s mobile counters throughout the state to promote and publicise the department’s services to the people so that they would be aware of the welfare benefits provided to them by the BN government.

The SUPP Women Section Central Committee meeting yesterday was officiated by the party’s secretary-general Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.
