KUALA LUMPUR: The United States (US) embassy here will close at 11am tomorrow due to a demonstration planned to be held at Jalan Tun Razak.
The embassy plans to reopen as normal on Monday, it said in a statement issued here today.
It added, in the event of an emergency, US citizens may call 03-2168 5000 at any time.
Tomorrow, the Umno Youth movement and the PAS Youth wing will stage separate assemblies to protest the production and screening of the Anti-Islam film, ‘Innocence of Muslims’ and the cartoon humiliating Prophet Muhammad SAW in a French magazine, Charlie Hebdo.
The Umno Youth gathering as well as the Youth wings of the Barisan Nasional component parties and more than 10 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will be held at the Kampung Baru Mosque grounds after the Friday prayer tomorrow.
At the same time, the PAS Youth wing will organise a protest near the United States embassy grounds at Jalan Tun Razak, here.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the police were ready to face any eventuality during the protest tomorrow.
He said this to reporters when approached after making a visit to the Central Market, here Thursday. –Bernama
