KUCHING: Sarawak chief coach, Robert Alberts is thankful for the mandate given to him by the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) to lead the Crocs for next season.

He was commenting on the news that FAS has agreed to retain the Dutchman for another year.

Apparently, the 58-year-old is still the number one choice for the role of the gaffer at Stadium Negeri.

“I am thankful for the faith that was given to me by FAS…I like it here and I could not imagine myself leaving,” he said with a sigh of relief in view that his contract ends in November.

Alberts pointed out now that he can now focus in preparing for the team for the next year’s Malaysia Premier League (MPL) challenge and gave assurance to the fans that the Crocs will do their best to return to Malaysia top flight football.

“Gaining promotion to the Malaysia Super League (MSL) is our ultimate goal, we will work hard for it,” he commented.

Meanwhile on another note, Alberts revealed that he is most happy if former Sarawak star and Terengganu player, Joseph Kallang Tie would return to the fold after his recent exit from the FA Cup champions.

“If he returns to the team, it will do wonders as we are in need of his services…he is a quality player indeed,” said Alberts on the much rated attacking midfielder.

According to Alberts, FAS is currently still negotiating with the Terengganu Football Association to finalise matters on Joseph’s move here.

He was withTerengganu since 2010 and longs to play again for his native home state if given the chance. Apart from Joseph, Albert too reveal that he is looking at the prospect of signing Ronny Harun permanently as the Sabah-born player still on loan stint here.

He was playing for Sarawak during the previous Malaysia Cup campaign.
