NEW FRONTIER: Aminudin (second right) and other VIPs release balloons to mark the opening of Pantai and Gleneagles Hospitals’ Information Centre in Miri yesterday.

MIRI: Individuals who plan to seek treatment at Pantai or Gleneagles Hospitals can now get first-hand advice through its information centre which opened its doors at Centre Point Phase 1 here yesterday.

Pantai Malaysia’s chief operating officer Aminudin Dawam said the centre also provided tele-consultation services.

“For the first time, we can now arrange tele-consultations between patients in Miri with our consultants in Kuala Lumpur, either from Pantai or Gleneagles Hospitals,” he said at the centre’s opening ceremony.

He added that customers could also get information about facilities, consultants, arrange appointments with the doctors, promotions, and types of services available at both Pantai and Gleaneagles Hospitals from the centre. Aminudin said with the setting up of the centre here, Pantai also hoped to reach out to residents in Bintulu, Sibu, Limbang, Lawas and Brunei.

“All these formed part and parcel of our continuing effort to give the best care at affordable prices to our customers.”

Aminudin said Pantai looked at Miri as “a new frontier” and hoped to stay for the long haul.

“Depending on the responses we get, and the economic and business climates, we may expand our investments here.”

Pantai is one of Malaysia’s leading healthcare groups. It currently boasts a network of 11 multi-disciplinary hospitals throughout the country which are marketed under two brand names – Pantai Hospital (nine hospitals) and Gleneagles Hospital (two).

Manned by more than 700 specialists and 2,000 nurses, the group also provides ancillary healthcare services such as comprehensive laboratory and rehabilitation services.

“With further developments in Kota Kinabalu by 2015, Manjung in Perak, and Iskandar Region in Johor, Pantai will continue to define Malaysia as a regional medical hub by delivering unparalleled quality, service and value,” said Aminudin.
