KUCHING: Sarawak failed to make it to the next round of the 100Plus National Junior Inter State Team Championship in Kedah after losing two of their group matches on Wednesday and Thursday.
In their opening match against Selangor on Wednesday, Sarawak were beaten 10-1.
Goh Suk Yun and Michelle Kong secured the consolation point for Sarawak when they beat Adina Abdul Wahab and Grace Marie Peter 14-21, 21-18 and 23-21 in the Girls Under-18 doubles.
The state team suffered the same fate in the encounter with Negeri Sembilan in the second match as they also lost 10-1.
This time, the solitary point came from Sharon Thieng Fang Jing who beat Chang Yong Wei in straight sets of 21-16 and 21-18 in the Girls Under 12 singles.
In their final group match against Putrajaya on Thursday, there was a better performance from the state shuttlers who won the tie 8-3.
Each team match consists of a total of 11 singles/double matches for Boys/Girls Under-12, 15 and 18 as well as Under 18 mixed doubles.
