PONTIANAK, WEST KALIMANTAN: Jakarta Post reported that The National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism unit arrested 19-year-old Anggri Pamungkas for alleged involvement in terrorism at his house in Melawi, West Kalimantan, on Saturday night.

The Surakarta-born Anggi was taken to Pontianak, the provincial capital of West Kalimantan.

“We are waiting for instructions on whether Anggri is to be transferred to the capital city,” said West Kalimantan Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Mukson Munandar as quoted by kompas.com.

“Densus 88 will question him to discover his connection with other terrorist groups,” he added.

On the previous day, Densus 88 arrested eight suspected terrorists, identified only as BH, RK, BN, FB, IV, K, N and YP, at separate places in Surakarta, Central Java. The police believe the eight were planning an attack against the police.

Officers confiscated dozens of detonators, bomb-making materials, sulfur, four active pipe bombs and books on jihad from BH’s house. The unit also seized three bombs, allegedly prepared to attack the police, from RK’s house.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Raffli Amar said that BH and RK were linked to two alleged terrorists, Mujib and Naim, who were apprehended by officers in Bojong Gede, Bogor, West Java in July.

According to The Associated Press news agency, more than 30 militant suspects have been arrested and seven others killed in a series of raids in Indonesia since March. All were plotting domestic attacks, and some — aged between 18 and 30 — had attended a military-style training camp in Poso on Sulawesi island.
