KOTA KINABALU: A 33-year-old fisherman was found safe and in good health after he was reported missing near Pulau Tiga since Monday.

Roslizam Bin Yahya was first reported missing after he failed to return with four other fishermen who had gone to the sea around 7pm on September 24.

It is said the fishermen had decided to return home around 9pm due to bad weather but upon reaching their home, Roslizam was nowhere to be found.

Fearing that something bad might have happened, the fishermen immediately lodged a missing report at the Kuala Penyu police station the same day.

Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) public relation officer Captain Awil Kamsari said a search operation was immediately launched by the agency after receiving the report from the police.

“We were however informed that the man had been rescued by a commercial vessel around 8.15am today (yesterday).

“We were also informed that the man was in good health and the vessel wold dock at Sepanggar Bay today,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Roslizam when met yesterday, thanked MMEA and all those involved in the search operation.

“I’m just glad to be back with my family,” he said.
