KUCHING: Ding Tea, a leading tea drink franchise originating from Taiwan, has recently opened a branch with delivery services in Tun Jugah Centre to highly-encouraging response from walk-in patrons and call-in customers alike.

Ding Tea was created in 2004 by its founder Xu Wei-xiang who felt that the beverage franchises operating at the time did not have consistent quality in their products. As such, a no-compromise quality control practice is integral to its core business philosophies.

In further explaining this to The Borneo Post, the new outlet’s franchise holders Lina Lee and Lisa Lee (who are sisters) said that all ingredients were fully imported from Taiwan, including real tea leaves as compared to instant tea powder used by certain competitors.

FRANCHISE HOLDERS: Sisters Lina (left) and Lisa Lee say that the new Ding Tea outlet in Tun Jugah Centre has received great response despite having opened only last week.

“Bubble tea has been around on a global scale for at least 15 years but it was within the last two years that it had really caught on in Malaysia.

“Ding Tea’s unique quality is the strict control of raw materials, ensuring the consistent quality of the drinks. Every drink is made individually, even with identical multiple orders. There are no short cuts,” Lina emphasised.

In tandem with the quality control, four of the branch’s six employees had been sent to Taiwan for two weeks of intensive training, learning crucial details such as how to prepare each drink and the proper quantities to be used.

The broad range of milk tea, flavoured tea, fruit tea, coffee, healthy drinks, ‘yakult’, juices and lemonade, could be made to order with five different levels or amounts of sugar and ice, starting from no ice or sugar.

To further enhance the drinks, extra toppings such as pearls, coffee jelly, coconut jelly, grass jelly, aloe vera and pudding could be added on at additional cost. More items are constantly being added to the already impressive menu of drinks.

The outlet had been given halal certification by the Chinese Muslim Association in Taiwan. Nonetheless, the process of receiving local halal certification was ongoing, Lina stated.

To promote the drinks, the outlet is holding an opening promotion where the customers purchasing any beverage would be given a free drink (regular size). This promotion will be held from September 28 to 30.

Deliveries are available and free of charge for orders of five or more drinks. For deliveries or less than five drinks, there will be a RM2 delivery charge.
