SIBU: A 50-year-old man was fined RM800 by a Magistrates’ Court in Kanowit yesterday after he pleaded guilty to beating his wife and sister-in-law.
The accused known only as Sinin faced two charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a maximum one-year jail or RM2,000-fine or both.
He was fined RM300 for beating up his sister-in-law, and RM500 for beating up his wife.
It is said that Sinin was drunk when he argued with the two women over some family matters.
At the same court, Ong Kung Chai, in his 40s, was fined RM2,000 in default, six months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to having in his possession fireworks and firecrackers.
He was indicted under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1958.
He was caught committing offence at 1pm at a shop house in Kanowit. He paid the fine.
