KUANTAN: The 13th prosecution witness in the murder trial of Stephanie Foray, the French tourist who was killed in Pulau Tioman last year, told the High Court here that he found traces of spattered blood on the walls of accused Asni Omar’s house in Kampung Tekek.

Crime scene investigation officer, Insp Shuhada Salim, who was resuming his testimony yesterday said, “The suspected traces of blood were caused by a spatter. Spatters can result from various causes,” he said in response to deputy public prosecutor Salim Soib@Hamid.

Based on Shuhada’s experience and expertise as a crime scene investigator, Salim had asked him to explain the cause of the traces of blood spatter on the walls, of which he had taken samples on Aug 8, 2011.

Salim’s question was initially objected to by defence counsel Ibrahim Kamaruddin on the basis that this case was different from the other cases handled by Shuhada.

Salim then said he wanted a hypothetical answer but Judge Datuk Mariana Yahya allowed the question saying it was more general in nature rather than hypothetical.

Shuhada answered by saying the height of the three traces of blood were 1.5 metres from the floor of the house and that his team were at the scene for about 20 minutes.

Asni, 37, a petty trader allegedly murdered Foray at an unnumbered house in Kampung Tekek, Pulau Tioman, Rompin between 8pm on May 10 and 12 noon on May 12, 2011.

The trial resumes Nov 19 to 22. — Bernama
