Be active in sports, Mawan tells KPS staff

SIBU: Staff of the Ministry of Social Development (KPS) was advised to always provide time for themselves to get involved in sports and healthy activities.

This was said by Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom who also stressed that sports and healthy activities helps to strengthen goodwill and bolster team-spirit among staff members of his Ministry.

He was speaking at the launch of the Ministry of Social Development Sports Carnival 2012, held at Sibu Town Square Phase One here yesterday.

The inaugural sports carnival was participated by 289 staff and officers of the Ministry of Social Development from throughout the state.

The Assistant Minister for Sports Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Rural Youth Development Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Assistant Minister for Youth Development Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Assistant Minister for Culture and Heritage Liwan Lagang and Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Social Development, Affandi Keli were also present.

“I hope that the Sports Carnival or any other forms of healthy activities can be organised continuously, so that all the staff and officers at all levels under the ministry can get together to further enhance the goodwill spirit among all of us.”

“That is why, even how busy we are with our daily routine, we should have time for ourselves to get involved in healthy activities together,” he pointed out.

Mawan added, by having a healthy mind and body, staff members will be able to become more productive and to deliver superb quality services to the people at large.

“By getting together under one roof, it will help to strengthen our spirit of teamwork among everyone at all levels.

“Only through teamwork and effective communication among staff members at all levels will help to ensure that we will deliver the best services to the people,” Mawan added.
