MIRI: Shell Rimula paid tribute to 400 hardworking truckers and loyal customers from across the country at a special appreciation gala dinner at Imperial Hotel here recently.

It had been an exciting year for the Shell Rimula brand as it rolled out its first-ever global campaign, with Miri chosen to host the 2012 edition of the event as Sarawak, with its many long haul routes, is one of the key markets for Shell Rimula, the best-selling heavy duty diesel engine oil brand in the country.

“Our campaign theme is ‘Hardworking’ being Shell Rimula’s way of demonstrating our empathy to the many hardworking truck drivers out there who play a major role in keeping our economy running,” said Shell Lubricants (SEA-South) Cluster general manager Chia Uen Li who launched Shell Rimula R5 LE and R6 LM diesel engine oils together with Shell Rimula Global Brand manager Seow Lee Ming.

Chia and Seow shared the stage with eight of the 10 lucky Malaysians who won its inaugural Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ contest, who will join winners from around the world in a four-day, three-night all-expense paid holiday to France on Oct 12 to 15. There, they watch the fastest trucks in the continent compete in the 2012 European Truck Racing Championship Finals at Le Mans.

During the two-month long July to August roadshow, the custom-made 40 tonne Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ recreation truck made stops at designated rest areas along the North-South highway in Peninsular Malaysia, Sibu and Miri, and Kundasang and Sandakan.

At each stops, free haircuts, hot coffee and cold drinks as well as Shell Rimula toiletry kits and water bottles were handed out to make it a pleasant and much welcomed surprise for the weary and hardworking truckers who spent hours on the road daily.

Chia stressed that Shell continuously leverages on its technology leadership to create products and services to improve performance, increase efficiency and lower fuel consumption.

“As businesses worldwide continue to grapple with rising operating costs and increasing competition, we understand the need to better manage transportation costs, especially those with in-house fleets,” she explained.

The R5 LE is a cost-effective alternative to fully synthetic lubricants, while the enhanced R6 LM is a fully synthetic oil and a proven product used by many of the largest transportation companies in the world.

“Our Drive Line offering make us the market leader in the country and the world. It comprises a complete portfolio of technologically superior products which protect every driveline component. They are Shell Rimula heavy duty diesel engine oils; Shell Spirax transmission, axle and gear oils; and Shell Gadus greases,” she added.
