Opposition masters of empty promises – Abdul Karim

SIBU: The electorate should not be hoodwinked by the empty promises made by the opposition in the run-up to the 13th general election, advised Assistant Minister of Youth Development Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah yesterday.

He also noted that the opposition had intensified their efforts to run down the government in recent years.

“The opposition has been using the tactic of condemning the BN government, instigating the people, and making empty sky-high promises since 2008.

“And the intensity has increased the last two years. One can see and hear all this condemning, instigating or sweet promises when one goes to a Pakatan Rakyat rally.

“Nothing done by the BN government is seen as right by them (the opposition). Everything is wrong,” Abdul Karim told The Borneo Post.

Asajaya assemblyman Abdul Karim said this when asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s call for Malaysians to be wary of the opposition’s three main ‘weapons’ – condemning, instigating and making all sorts of promises in trying to woo the people.

Najib urged the people to ponder the sweet promises made by Pakatan.

Concurring with what Najib said, Abdul Karim said the opposition would blame the BN government on literally everything.

He added that when fuel price went up, accusing fingers were pointed at BN.

“When there was a flood happening which resulted in a death, like that in Batu Lintang last year, the blame also went to BN.”

He reiterated that the people ought to be careful with the promises made by Pakatan.

“Many promises have been made. For example, 20 per cent oil royalty to Sarawak, very cheap cars, PTPTN loan need not be paid, and so on…but we must remember, what happened to those promises made before the last general and state elections that have not been fulfilled till today?

“Where’s the free water in Selangor? Where is the ‘warga tua’ benefit promised? Where is the ‘reduced’ oil price? We hope the rakyat will not be ‘fooled’ by this opposition tactics again!”
