KOTA KINABALU: The Federation Council of Christian Mission Schools Malaysia (FCCMSM) lauded the RM100 million allocation under the 2013 Budget for mission schools in the country.

This special fund as announced by the Prime Minister is to cater for the immediate needs to refurbish school buildings, maintenance and purchase of school equipment and construction of additional school blocks.

Chairperson of FCCMSM, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, said that in the true spirit of 1 Malaysia, the Federal Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had taken a serious step forward in providing equal access to quality education by providing funds to the mission schools to enable them to create and sustain a safe and conducive learning environment for the students.

“This commendable move compliments and complements the effort of the Ministry of Education in pushing for excellence among the teachers and students as this is clearly stated in the Malaysian Education Blue Print (2013-2025).

“As many researchers have confirmed that student achievement is impacted by an effective learning environment, FCCMSM is thankful that armed with this educational awareness, the government has blessed all the mission schools in our country with this much needed allocation which will go into enhancing the instructional setting of the schools for better student achievement,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Yap urged the mission schools to make effective use of this special fund for building, improvement and maintenance of schools and exercise integrity as well as transparency in managing the use of the government aid for the good of all our students.
