SIBU: A man arrested late Tuesday evening for throwing stones at the public was yesterday ordered by a magistrates’ court here to undergo a month’s observation at the Sibu Hospital Psychiatric Ward.

The case was held in chambers.

Sgt Hamid Jamal from the Lanang police station said a member of the public had called the police when the man, believed to be mentally-challenged, started to hurl stones at the public.

Hamid said the police could not get much information on the man’s identity as he was unable to answer questions properly.

“He said he is from Bintangor or Sarikei or Bintulu, and then suddenly, he changed his subject to food stalls, all kinds of stuff.

“So we really do not have any information on this man,” said Hamid.

Hamid added that he hoped the man’s family members would contact him as soon as possible.
