Penrissen and Warriors still unbeaten

KUCHING: Unbeaten Penrissen and Warriors both maintained their unbeaten records in the ongoing President League after winning their respective fixtures over the weekend.

Penrissen, Kuching hockey’s budding powerhouse, thumped a green Project 2016 side 6-2 to top the standings.

The Warriors cruised to an easy win with a hammering of Muara Tuang to also maintain their perfect record.

Both teams are 3-0 with Penrissen topping the table by virtue of a superior goal difference.

In their match against Project 2016, the league leaders opened accounts first with a 16th minute penalty corner conversion by Rhodan Utok.

Eight minutes later, Donnie Walker Ho banged in a field goal and sounded the board again moments later to give Penrissen a 3-0 lead.

Two minutes after the intermission, Baniela Lehim scored with teammate Fedtrus Peri scoring 15mins. later to give Penrissen a massive 5-0 lead.

The Project side managed to prevent a whitewash when their Allaika T. Ruang scored in the 57mins.

Their perseverance bore fruit again in the 59th mins.

Mohd. Nurazizi scored laying on the ground after the Penrissen ‘keeper’s rushing challenge deflected the ball to him and he made no mistake with the wide open goal.

Ronald’s goal in the 66th mins. saw Penrissen winning handily 6-2.

Made up of past and poresent players from SMK Penrissen, the league leaders are a well-oiled unit as they have played together for so long.

Herman Muntong’s brace saw the Warriors to a 4-0 shutout win with the score at the intermission 2-0.

The weekends only other match saw BLTC Hockey Club downing Impian Zaman. BLTC’s Osman had a field goal and penalty corner conversion to see them winning 4-2, after a comeback from a 1-0 deficit at the break.

The Project boys dropped to fourth in the standings after their hammering by Penrissen while BLTC took over the third spot.

Both have four points from three matches but BLTC have a better goal difference.

Muara Tuang and Impian Zaman are still winless.
